OEBKC Breeders Code of Ethics
The purpose of the Breeder's Code of Ethics is to serve as a guideline for a minimum standard of excellence in the
ownership, breeding and sales of the Olde English Bulldogge. To that end, I hereby pledge:
I will be a member in good standing of the OEBKC and abide by the Club bylaws and UKC rules and regulations.
I agree to pay the parent club appropriate breeder dues on time, during each renewal period. I understand failure to
pay in a timely manner will result in termination of the Club endorsement on the OEBKC website breeder's page. I
also understand that each renewal will require my acknowledgement and acceptance of the most current revision of
the OEBKC Code of Ethics.
I will plan each breeding with the intention of improving the breed and never for purely commercial reasons. I will
never act as, or similar to, a puppy mill and/or puppy broker.
I agree to work closely with the Breeding Committee in an effort to eliminate health defects or disqualifications
through selective breeding.
I will not breed a female under 18 months / male under 1 year nor a dog or bitch that has not been evaluated
favorably by an orthopedic evaluator prior to breeding.
I will comply with all federal, state or provincial, local government laws and regulations concerning the keeping of
dogs.
I will maintain the highest possible standards of health, cleanliness and care of the dogs and puppies in my care.
This includes but is not limited to veterinary care, proper socialization,
exercise, and training.
I will be honest and ethical in all financial transactions.
SALES:
I will refrain from releasing any puppy until he/she is eight weeks old or the minimum age as required by my state's
law.
I will discriminate in the sales of my puppies with concerns to the type of homes which they
are placed. My
dogs/puppies will not be sold or donated to dog wholesalers, dealers, retailers, laboratories or pet shops or for
auction, resale or public give away purposes .
I will not knowingly misrepresent the characteristics of the breed, falsely advertise or mislead any person regarding
the performance of any dogs or puppies for the sale.
I will properly execute registration papers with a full disclosure of the registry, it's standards and requirements.
I will assure puppy buyers if at any time the buyer has to rehome the puppy/dog, the breeder must be notified and
given rights to first refusal or to assist the buyer in placing the dog.
I agree to be a resource for buyers of puppies or older dogs that I have placed or sold for the life of the dog.
RECORDS:
I will keep accurate records and retain those records for a minimum of the life of the dog and make them available to
UKC or the parent club upon request. These records will include but are not limited to stud service documents,
pedigrees, all litters produced, breeding and whelping dates and all puppies/dogs sold. I may use the breeders
record that the UKC provides to assist in maintaining these records.
I agree to cooperate with requests from the Breeding committee and/or the parent club in order to organize and
facilitate the implementation to advance knowledge of the breed,
ancestors and offspring in all aspects.
IMPLEMENTATION:
This Code of Ethics is intended as an expression of goals for breeders, owners and fanciers. Both the Code of Ethics
and registration policies may be referenced and enforced if violations are found.
